How to get Medkits in Hyper Light Breaker

When you start up Hyper Light Breaker, your first thought will probably be “How the hell do I heal?” as I had that same thought, and thus, I figured this guide was necessary.

You’ll see an icon next to your health that looks like a syringe, but the game is incredibly unclear in how you get more, though you always start with a single one.

As a precursor to this guide, so that you won’t feel disappointed, you’ll likely need to reset the world at least once to get more Medkits, and you might need more materials.

That said, once you’ve navigated the confusing terms that the game sets out for you, getting Medkits is rather easy, as long as they don’t change it again, so I think it’s high time we got into the method.

Draining Blood

At the start of every run, you’ll automatically get a Medkit, but if you want to heal more than once while you’re out in the overgrowth, you’ll need some bright blood.

This can be gained by killing enemies, breaking open crates, and found in just about every destructible object on occasion, so you’ll easily build a stockpile.

You need 225 Bright Blood to refill your Medkit, which is an incredibly lofty amount, given you only get around 150-250 on any given run. But, if you’re willing to take on and take down bosses, you’ll get significantly more.

If you want an easy way to farm more Bright Blood, you can just stand around. Waiting will increase the difficulty, making more enemies spawn, which means more food for the slaughter.

Unlocking Medkits

At the start of the game, you have a maximum capacity of one Medkit, and the only way to get more capacity is by speaking with Pherus Bit, where you’ll see the skill tree.

Currently, the maximum you can ever get is two Medkits, your first one being a freebie, and another at the fourth level, each for Golden Rations you get upon resetting the world.

If you want to increase your capacity, you’ll need to loop quite a few times, so you should always treat Medkits as a treasured resource, and use them sparingly.

You can also choose to upgrade your Medkit in the skill tree, which will increase the healing from 75 to 83, and has great synergy with any healing-based Holobytes, but you’ll still need to craft them.

Getting Medkits

You may have interacted with one of the shrines you spawn on, seen “Craft Medkit”, and thought that was a great option to have, but it’s almost always unnecessary.

You always gain your freebie, which will fill you to the maximum count, so once you get your second upgrade, the Bright Blood spent on crafting isn’t at all worth it.

When you craft it at a shrine, it takes 225 first and then increases exponentially each time, meaning I can’t particularly recommend going for it more than once, if at all.

This is more of a general tip for the game, but if you’ve run out of Medkits and are in a position where you’re thinking of crafting one, it’s better to just extract and leave.
