Final Audience & Second Sentinel Guide & Walkthrough

As you work your way through the second act of Silksong, you’ll encounter a wealth of side content that offers a bounty of rewards for those willing to seek out secrets and do the legwork. So, when you come across a Cogwork Heart Piece for the first time, you’ll know there and then that you’re about to be distracted from the main objective yet again.

Provided you can find all of these Cogwork Heart Pieces, you’ll be able to visit Cogwork Core and revive the Second Sentinel, a loyal protector of the Citadel, which will, at least in part, push you closer to triggering a new quest called Final Audience. Which will ultimately lead to a showdown with the supposed friend you just gave a heart to.

This quest can be a little irritating as there are some prerequisites you need to tick off before it will even appear on the job board, and the fight that caps off this quest is a tricky one as well. But the ends justify the means, as this quest will net you one of the best tools in the game. So without further delay, let us seek a Final Audience with the Second Sentinel.

How To Start Final Audience

The Final Audience quest line will be one that players can pick up from the Songclave job board, but it will only become available if the player has met certain criteria.

First of all, the player will need to collect all the Cogheart Pieces dotted around Pharloom. There are three to collect in total, and then you will need to take them to Cogwork Core, where you will be able to use the Cogwork Heart to revive Second Sentinel.

In addition to this, you will need the Clawline and Faydown Cloak to access the areas where these pieces are found, as well as the area where the boss will be fought later in this quest.

More specifically, you will need to have explored and cleared High Halls, as the boss area is found in the lower levels of this portion of the map.

However, the most confusing prerequisite you’ll need to meet before unlocking this quest is finding the two encounters where you’ll fight alongside the Second Sentinel. As the quest won’t appear until you witness both of these.

The first is located in the long corridor that connects the upper entrance to Cogwork Core, where you fought the Cogwork Dancers and Songclave.

Whereas the second is located in the long hall at the bottom of the Choral Chamber.

Then, finally, this quest will only appear when you have collected the threefold melodies needed to take you to The Cradle.

So, in short, a lot of stuff to line up before you can even think about hunting down Second Sentinel. However, as soon as you do all of this, you can claim this quest from the Songclave job board.

Where Is Second Sentinel?

Now that you have all the necessary boxes checked, you can track down the Second Sentinel for a duel. Seems your supposed friendship was pretty flimsy after all.

Second Sentinel is found in a secret room within the High Halls that can now be accessed. Head in via the shortcut that takes you straight up to the bench near the forum, and then follow the tracker trail out the top right of this screen.

You will then find them in this secret room to the right, and after speaking to them briefly, the fight will begin.

How To Beat Second Sentinel

Second Sentinel is a pretty deadly boss that weirdly behaves quite like Lace in a lot of ways. However, I would say that this might be a touch more demanding than the encounter you’ll have with Lace in The Cradle.

Second Sentinel will likely open up the fight with a cross attack, which telegraphs with an X on screen, and then creates an explosion of light in a larger X shape. The key to avoiding this is backing off and trying to occupy the spaces between the spikes of the X.

Then, in terms of their base attacks, you’ll immediately see the similarities between Second Sentinel and Lace. As this boss uses a jump and diagonal lunge attack, thrust attacks to close the space between you and them, and if you happen to attack and they parry, they also perform a counterattack that is a flurry of stabs.

However, they do have a few more unique tricks up their sleeve, such as a spinning leap where they cast a wave of light projectiles at the player.

That said, with that, we have exhausted their entire moveset, which would perhaps suggest that they aren’t all that nuanced as a boss. But that would be selling this boss short, as they are much more effective with this moveset than any comparative boss.

What you need to understand about this boss is that they are able to adapt to you on the fly. Their thrust attacks don’t stop when you avoid them, and they follow up with multiple stabs.

Their leaping attacks may change position to follow your movement, so you can’t count on locking them into an attack to duck their strike with ease. Plus, they are incredibly aggressive, never sitting back or giving you a moment to breathe, which makes healing a challenge.

It’s hard to give any pinpoint advice as this boss has no clear weakness. But my tips would be to try to use the space as effectively as you can, as using the wall to get height to hover and heal is much safer. Consider spamming tools in the latter stages of the fight if you have the shards to spare to take them down a little faster.

Just keep moving, keep chipping away at this aggressive boss, and you should take them down and earn their respect as a worthy adversary.

Rewards For Completing Final Audience

Reserve Bind Silksong

After defeating Second Sentinel, they will clear out of the room, and they will leave you behind a little memento. The Reserve Bind.

This is a blue-coded tool that is easily one of the most valuable assets within the game. This allows the player to keep one additional reserve of silk, which they can use to heal at any time, even if they don’t have the silk required to heal.

This means that when the chips are down in an intense fight and your silk is so low that you don’t stand a chance of getting it filled up again, you can tap into this reserve and get right back on the offensive.
