Within your household, you might consider yourself the chef of the house, but me, I prefer the role of disgraced chef. On account of one too many burnt frozen pizzas. Perhaps that is also what happened to Disgraced Chef Lugoli. However, I think he had it coming if he’s been using Roach Guts as a primary ingredient.
This boss is a key one to take down if you want to complete the Great Taste of Pharloom quest, and is also a key component of clearing out Sinner’s Road in its entirety. However, this chef is disgraced and has nothing left to lose. So, don’t expect an easy fight.
He may not have many phases, meaning the fight is relatively short, but with the poison gimmick in play, it can prove to be pretty tough regardless. So, here is a handy guide to help get you through this fight in one piece.
Disgraced Chef Lugoli Location & How To Get There
Disgraced Chef Lugoli is located in Sinner’s Road, an area of the map that can be accessed via Greymoor relatively early in the game. However, you won’t be able to access this boss fight until quite a bit later, as you’ll need to have access to the Faydown Cloak (double jump) ability.
Once you have this, if you head through the bottom halls of Sinner’s Road, you’ll find an area you can double jump up into, and this area plays host to the Chef’s boss fight. All you need to do is ring the gong in the middle of the room to start the fight.
Tip: I would suggest opening the shortcut to the left of the boss arena before this fight begins, and I would also urge players to rest at the Sinner’s Road Bench.
How To Beat Disgraced Chef Lugoli
After you ring the gong, this will get the attention of the two sous chef enemies in the room already. These are relatively tame enemies that can be taken down comfortably. Just keep your distance, darting in and out to get a quick hit in, and you’ll take them down with ease. Then the real fight begins, as that was just an appetizer.
Lugoli will fall into the center of the room, immediately letting off their first attack upon impact. This will launch four green poison blobs at you. The key here is to stand just left or right of the drop zone and they will miss you.
Just to explain the poison blob mechanic quickly. If you get hit with these blobs, you’ll be immediately inflicted with poison, meaning you will need to use your silk to clear this status before you can heal again. So, it’s imperative that you avoid getting hit by one for as long as possible. Because when you do, it’s hard to into a spot to heal again.
They essentially have two attacks in this phase. They have their butt change attack which hits for two masks, and then they have the poison attack you will have just seen.
With the poison attack, it’s all about staying close to their drop zone so their arching blobs have no chance of falling on you. Then, for the butt attacks, you’ll want to try to spot these early and sprint/dash away in the other direction as fast as possible.
Take them down, and this will usher in the second phase, which in truth is a lot like the first, except for two things. They move a little faster, and they have a new move to contend with.
They can now dive under the surface of the battle arena, spit up four blobs, and then emerge to throw another set of four blobs. When this happens, avoid the center of the arena when he dives, but try to be standing just left or right of the center, as the blobs will miss you.
Also, in this second phase, I would suggest that you start using your tools to make short work of this boss when he’s at his most dangerous. Struggle through, and don’t get poisoned too often, and you should be able to take them down.
Rewards For Defeating Disgraced Chef Lugoli
The main reward for beating Disgraced Chef Lugoli is the Pickled Muckmaggot. An ingredient that is key to completing the five-part side quest, The Great Taste of Pharloom.
You can turn in this ingredient now in the Choral Chambers, but it’s best just to hold onto your ingredients until everything is accounted for.
