Ah, the wonders of lush tropical islands. Sun, sea and… murderous mermaids? Act 4 of Path of Exile II certainly throws some tricky challenges at you, and this one is going to have you gasping for breath.
Diamora, Song of Death, is an optional boss found in the Singing Caverns sub-area, on Whakapanu Island. And yes, while this is optional, these areas are pretty stunning to look at, and have some great rewards within. In addition, if you want to seriously upgrade your trading game, unlocking the final reward is crucial.
This guide will show you how to get to Diamora and the best methods to put her out of her misery.
The Singing Caverns
Once you’ve gotten a hold of some decent transportation, you’ll want to head straight over to Whakapanu Island. This beach resort has some pretty important things while you’re here, so hold your horses before you enter the Singing Caverns sub-area.
Firstly, look out for a Torn Map Piece. Picking up this quest item will start the Forgotten Bounty quest, which is definitely worth doing if you need a refresher on the endgame mechanics.
Also, while you’re there, look out for a boss arena by the ocean. You might just find a not-so-friendly shark looking for his next meal. Taking down the Great White One will award you with a Shark Fin that will trigger the Tribal Medicine quest.
The caverns themselves are fairly tricky to get through, as the area is very open, and it can get pretty crowded with enemies. This is compounded when you encounter the abyssal mechanic. Don’t rush through; just take it slowly, and try to trap enemies in the tight corridors of the map.
Preparation Phase
Similar to quite a few bosses in Act 4, this boss deals heavy cold damage with most of her attacks. So the first thing you want to do is search for items with Cold Resistance. Your cold resistance caps out at 75%, and while this may be a little overkill, it’s still good to get as much protection as possible.
In particular, you’re going to be moving around a lot in this fight, so rather than trying to tank her attacks with a high energy shield or armour, try getting yourself a pair of boots with movement speed bonuses or something like the Foxshade chest piece to boost your speed considerably. Diamora’s arena is pretty big, so use the space wisely.
Diamora, Song of Death
Regular Abilities
Once you’re ready, head into the arena. You’ll be trapped by a wall of water while Diamora waits in the central pool. Don’t be fooled by her looks, she’s out to kill! And you’re on the menu.

Attack Name |
Description |
How To Avoid |
|---|---|---|
|
Claw Swipe |
Diamoras’ most basic attack. She will swipe at you with a jagged claw. |
This doesn’t have much read, so simply stay back or roll away. |
|
Liquid Pillars |
The boss will summon three pillars of water from the ground. |
Dodge three times, with a gap between each one to avoid all three pillars. |
|
Aqua Shot |
She will shoot a rapid volley of water shots from her mouth, dealing damage and pushing you back. |
A quick roll to the side will immediately avoid this one. |
|
Fly Over |
Diamora will jump into the water and then fly over the arena, leaving pillars of water in her wake. She performs this attack twice. |
She will try and use the pillars to lock you into a piece of the arena, so don’t stay in one spot, or things will get hectic. |
|
Tsunami |
She will summon 2–3 waves, which converge on you in a triangle pattern. |
Look for the gap between the waves and dodge to avoid getting trapped in the middle. If you get hit by all the waves, it will do a lot of damage. |
|
Freezing Yell |
Diamora will quickly let out a scream which damages and chills you. |
She performs this attack very fast without much warning, so try and dodge in anticipation. Luckily, it doesn’t do much damage. Often, this will be her first attack after resurfacing. |
|
Death Bubble |
She will say, “Can you breathe?” and then summon a large orb of water from the depths. She will attempt to drop this bubble on top of you, tracking your movement. If you are hit, like with many of her attacks, you will be slowed and chilled. |
As soon as you see the bubble coming from the water, immediately sprint away to avoid big damage. |
Ultimate Attack
Honestly, this attack deserves a section of its own due to how different it is and how many mechanics it will throw at you. She will only use this mechanic twice during the whole fight, at around 60% and 30% of her health.
In addition, you’ll now have to contend with roaming bubbles that revolve around the arena, though they don’t track your movement. If you stay in one of these bubbles for 3 seconds, you’ll instantly die. Watch out, Hardcores!

Song of Stone |
When Diamora says, “Are you stronger than the rest, can you resist the urge to look?” her invulnerable phase is coming. She will rise from the centre and turn back to her human form, emitting a bright light in a large cone in front of her. She will slowly swivel in place as the light revolves around the arena. If you stay in her gaze for too long, you will be petrified. |
Instead of running from her gaze, it’s better to stay in one part of the arena and fight the enemies that emerge from the water. When the light comes, roll into it, in the opposite direction that it’s travelling, to spend as little time there as possible. |
Once you’ve put an end to this Siren’s song, you can unlock your first hideout by talking to Ange back in Kingsmarch.
And let me tell you, Ange is a game-changer. Now you can trade asynchronously! No more waiting for people to respond and searching for items online. A blessing indeed.
