Dead Island 2 Is Now Free on Epic Games Store

The next batch of free games on the Epic Game Store are now available to grab, and they have something for those who want to slash and smash their way through zombie apocalypses.

The next free offerings on Epic Games Store are Dead Island 2 and Happy Game. If you want to have them on your PC, then you have until May 22 to grab them.

You should bear in mind that this is the standard version of Dead Island 2 that has been made free, which only includes the base game and not the expansion packs. But if you want to get your hands on the game’s downloadable content, you could upgrade your game to the deluxe version on Epic Games Store.

A Game That Journeyed Through Multiple Game Studios And A Console Generation

Dead Island 2 was originally announced back at E3 2014 by Deep Silver and Yager Development. Their vision was to take Techland’s first-person zombie apocalypse game to a fictional world based on California.

This original version was set to release in 2015 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Things didn’t pan out properly and Dead Island 2’s development was then passed to Sumo Digital for a while.

Then, in 2019, it was announced that Dambuster Studios, an internal studio of Deep Silver, had taken the project into their own hands. In April 2023, this game was finally released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X | S.

It’s still a wonder how Dead Island 2 managed to survive such a long development journey and, after going through multiple studios and a console generation, ended up a relatively decent game enjoyed by its fans.
