Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 from Xbox heads to PS5 this summer, following its predecessor’s release on PS4.
New Xbox-exclusive games like Hellblade 2 and Gears of War are making their way to PS5, hinting at broader availability.

With Gears of War confirmed for the PS5, it’s a sure sign that all bets are off when it comes to first-party Xbox franchises appearing on other platforms.

This time, the new Xbox Series X|S game heading to PS5 isn’t that much of a surprise, given that the series’ first game is already available on PlayStation platforms.

Xbox Ports for Nintendo Switch 2 Expected This Year

Don’t be surprised to be playing Halo on the Nintendo Switch 2 by year’s end.

Former Cinematic Xbox-Exclusive Drops On PS5 This Summer

The game we’re referring to is Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Helblade 2, which Sony confirmed will be released on PS5 sometime this summer. The game was rumored to be one set to be revealed during the PayStation State of Play event held in February this year.

While that didn’t come to pass, the rumors still rang true given today’s announcement. Possibly out of all the former Xbox-exclusive games headed to other platforms, this might be the most unsurprising one, given that the first game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, was released on PS4 in 2017. This was before Microsoft acquired Ninja Theory in 2018.

Hellblade 2 is the sequel to the award-winning Hellblade, and follows Senua’s journey of survival through Viking Iceland. It’s one cinematic action game, which has garnered amazing reception as it currently has over 6,000 “Very Positive” reviews on Steam alone.

Hellblade 2’s Sales Data Reveals How Much It Struggled On Xbox Charts

Recent sales data for Hellblade 2 has been revealed that showcase how the game performed in the charts for May.

On Open Critic, Hellblade 2 has a “Strong” rating from over 150 professional reviews, which is no easy feat. While its visuals, sound design and storytelling have been lauded by critics, its combat has been criticized due to its lack of depth.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 has no release date locked in for PS5 outside of “summer,” though we’re expecting that to change soon given we’re about to enter the new season.

The next major former Xbox-exclusive hitting the PS5 is Gears of War, which will shoot its way out this August 26, 2025. The Reloaded version of the third-person shooter will include all the content, crossplay, no loading screens in the Campaign and a host of other features.
