A new mod for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has added Cloud’s iconic outfit from the Kingdom Hearts series, giving fans the chance for that iteration of the character to cross blades with Sephiroth once more.

Cloud Strife might be the Final Fantasy character to have the most crossover appearances, appearing not only in other entries of the same franchise but also in the Super Smash Bros. series, where he has been a fighter since the 3DS/Wii U era.

Naturally, the Cloud Kingdom Hearts Outfit is only available on the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It also requires the Loveless Outfits – Individuals mod to be installed first to work, as it adds physics to them.

The outfit does have some issues during cutscenes, mostly with collision detection involving Cloud’s sword. However, it works correctly once a fight begins.

Kingdom Hearts Creator Tetsuya Nomura Was Unwilling to Budge on Non-Disney Protagonist

Tesuya Nomura, creator of the Kingdom Hearts games, wanted Sora to be an original character with a mix of Disney and JRPG characteristics.

The outfit wasn’t made from scratch, as it was taken from one of the alternate skins introduced in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, as the Kingdom Hearts clothes were DLC in that game.

Considering the popularity of the clothing mods in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, it was only natural that Rebirth receive its own extensive wardrobe additions for the main cast. Cloud’s Kingdom Hearts outfit is such a natural fit that it’s surprising Square Enix isn’t selling it as DLC, as it would be a huge seller for those impatiently waiting for Sora’s next adventure.
