Mintrocket, the studio behind last year’s breakout hit Dave The Diver, has officially revealed its next project. Wakerunners is a new sci-fi, top-down, 4v4 and 5v5 team battle game with a demo coming early next month.
Wakerunners was initially revealed under the code name Project TB back in May 2022, but the studio is now ready to tell all as the first official teaser trailer gives fans a look at what Mintrocket has in store for us next. Although a release date for Wakrunners is yet to be confirmed, there will be a demo available on Steam as part of the platform’s Next Fest event. The demo will be available from February 5th.

Mintrocket describes Wakerunners as a “4v4 and 5v5 action game set in a dystopian sci-fi future.” Earth has been ravaged and is now the site of skirmishes between the surviving factions. Wakerunners features fast-paced gameplay with close-quarter combat, whilst also featuring a unique acceleration and deceleration mechanic that allows players to glide across battle arenas at high speeds.
There’s also a variety of characters, each with unique abilities, personas, and battle styles. Players have the ability to swap characters mid-battle, which allows them to strategically use a variety of skills throughout a battle.
With the Steam Next Fest demo of Wakerunners right around the corner, players will be able to experience five different game modes and seven playable characters. These game modes include: Team Deathmatch, Raider, Control Conquest, Command Siege, and Escort.

Mintrocket is also hard at work on Nakwon: Last Paradise, a third-person stealth survival game. Set in a post-apocalyptic version of Seoul, players must infiltrate a city full of AI Zombies and real-life players to collect useful items and complete various missions. But be careful, if you don’t extract out of the city, you’ll lose everything you have. More details on Last Paradise can be found on the game’s official Steam page.
Dave The Diver Was Partly Inspired By One Piece
Yakuza and Metal Gear have also been cited as sources of inspiration.
