If you’re considering which 5-star character to select in Honkai Star Rail, here are their strengths and weaknesses.

Toward the end of the Trailblazer’s time with the Luoxia, they can come face-to-face with the young Yanqing, an understudy of the powerful general Jing Yuan. He showcases an incredible spread of abilities and serves as one of the most difficult battles the Trailblazer has faced yet.

How To Beat Yanqing

While Yanqing can be engaged in various battles throughout Star Rail (through the main quest, in side quests, and in the simulated universe world 8), the approach to dropping him stays the same. Yanqing’s battles showcase the full potential of Star Rail’s turn-based strategic combat system, as it remains one of the most unique scrums in the game. Yanqing himself is weak to lightning, wind, and imaginary damage types while boasting a resistance to ice damage. During the battle, however, Yanqing will summon a flurry of flying swords that remain on the map with their own health bars.

The catch to this battle is to clear out all of Yanqing’s floating blades before he can unleash an ultimate attack that will likely devastate the party (particularly in the simulated universe). In order to clear these enemies, the Trailblazer and party will need to distribute various damage types to find each sword’s weakness. Finding the weakness to each weapon will destroy most immediately. Those that survive should fall on the next attack. Be sure to bring a powerful healer to the fray, as Yanqing can dish out an intense amount of damage in a short period of time. Continue to smack Yanqing when possible and be sure to eliminate his add-ons as they spawn.

Best Party Compositions To Defeat Yanqing

Honkai Star Rail Bronya Ultimate

  • An ideal party composition to tackling Yanqing should consist of a powerful healer and a variety of damage types.
    • Bailu works well, as her electric damage type plays well against Yanqing. While she is not the most effective healer, intelligent use of her abilities can work in the Trailblazer’s favor.
    • Luocha, too, would be an idea healer, as he can dish out solid imaginary damage while providing some quality healing.
    • Jing Yuan and Blade (or Bronya) would round out the DPS with a bang, as each character is capable of dealing silly amounts of damage. It is highly recommended not to double up any damage type, as the flying swords should be dispatched as quickly as possible. Doubling up damage types may prolong their lives.
  • A more realistic party composition should still consist of a power healer. Dan Heng and Yukong will serve as adequate DPS in lieu of any 5-star replacements. Serval should serve as a decent electric damage type, and Natasha will work as a healer if needed. It is by far the least ideal scenario, but each of these characters are free to play.

With patience and a bit of luck, Yanqing will fall (in the simulated universe, utilizing the path of Elation and grabbing three blessings of Elation will equip the Trailblazer with a path resonance attack that deals damage from 3-5 random damage types to all enemies, which will expose weaknesses at a higher rate on the flying swords). Most encounters with Yanqing will not be pretty, but with the applied strategy and hard work, he is certainly beatable.
